Public art - Weindorfer Trophies for the Tasmanian Tourism Awards (079172)

Submissions closed at midnight 2 December 2019 (AEDT).

The Tasmanian Tourism Awards are the premier Awards program in the Tasmanian tourism industry. The Awards are designed to encourage and recognise innovation, excellence, quality and sustainability in tourism. There are 25 award categories and finalists are announced in early October.

In 2013 the awards were given a more contemporary rebranding including celebrating the heritage of the Tasmanian tourism industry. The story of Gustav and Kate Weindorfer was selected as the inspiration for the awards program. Artist Tom Samek was commissioned to design and fabricate the Weindorfer Trophy based on the Tasmanian Tourism Awards logo featuring the King Billy Pine.

This year the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania would like to commission a contemporary artist to design and fabricate a new trophy for the Awards for the next five years.

This commission is open to Tasmanian artists only.
