Public art - Mersey Community Hospital (080282)

Submissions closed at midnight 8 June 2020 (AEST).

Applications are sought from visual artists to design artwork for the pillars supporting the helipad located at the front entrance of the hospital. The commission is for artwork that would enliven the area under the helipad and make it a more inviting space.

The new helipad has created a space underneath that is sheltered from the sun and rain. Staff and patients have been using this space to sit, socialise and eat their lunch. The helipad is made of concrete and has eight concrete pillars supporting the structure. The number of pillars that could support artwork will be determined by the artist’s design, the materials selected and the costs involved.

Tasmanian Aboriginal artists or a collaborative team including a Tasmanian Aboriginal artist, are encouraged to apply.

For more information see the Arts Tasmania website: www.arts.tas.gov.au/public_art

Applications close 11:59 pm, Monday 8 June 2020.
