Wall Space Commissions

Submissions closed at midnight 16 September 2024 (AEST).

The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is upgrading classroom and learning facilities at schools around Tasmania.

The Wall Space Project is a commission and professional development opportunity presented by Arts Tasmania and DECYP to support new artists to develop work through the Tasmanian Government Art Site Scheme.

We are looking for artists to create indoor and outdoor 2D artworks for wall spaces in primary and district schools. Each selected artist will have the opportunity to visit the school and create an artwork that responds to the location and is meaningful to school students.

This commission is for artists who have not created work through the Tasmanian Government Art Site Scheme (TGASS) before. You do not need prior experience with public art commissions. If you are selected, we’ll support you to develop and realise a concept and develop your skills creating art for public places.
